WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES 2010
The Winter Olympic Games are always a KUSH event, and Ryan McGinley’s photo essay for New York Times Magazine catches the athletes of 2010 in motion. We are pretty used to thinking of gravity when it comes to the games: skiers racing down the mountain, figure skaters landing on their feet, and the best boarders keeping their feet buckled in as they make their way down the Halfpipe. McGinley captures these athletes mid-air, “where the skiers and snowboarders perform their tricks…where their events are won.”
Ryan McGinley is a New York-based photographer, known for catching bodies in motion, and in this case levitation.
